Reward offered for help to solve drive-by shootings outside bikie clubhouse

“There are a number of businesses around here; it could have been anyone driving down the street that night.”

Officers raided the building shortly after the shooting and discovered that someone had allegedly erased security footage of the incident captured by the club’s CCTV cameras.

Police found evidence of a party inside the building but did not uncover any firearms linked to the shooting.

A day later, emergency services found a stolen dark-coloured Audi Q7 SUV alight in Dandenong South at Hallam Valley Road and CCTV footage shows a silver VW Golf in the area before the fire.

Police believed the shooters left the scene in the VW Golf but were unable to charge anyone despite releasing footage of the drive-by and an image of the getaway car in 2020. Investigators suspect the offenders stole the car before the shooting and dumped it elsewhere afterwards.

Police believe the incident was the result of heightened tensions between the Comanchero and Outlaws bikie gangs.

Hatt said officers had spoken to members of both groups on several occasions in the years following the incident, but the members had refused to co-operate.

“The outcome of these events could have been a very different story and over the past two years we’ve pursued a number of avenues of inquiry in an effort to identify those responsible,” he said.

He said investigators hoped the reward would entice someone to come forward with crucial information.

“It is likely that they have spoken about the incident,” Hatt said. “Circumstances change and someone who may not have wanted to provide information to police previously may now feel ready to do so.”

Hatt said police had measures in place to ensure those who came forward with information would be protected.
