MANILA, Philippines — A misdeclared package bound for another country containing powdery substance believed to be cocaine was intercepted by operatives in a cargo warehouse in Pasay City, police said on Thursday.

Reports sent by the Philippine National Police (PNP) said that the contraband was found inside a warehouse along Andrews Avenue in Pasay City on Wednesday.  According to the PNP, the package was declared as motorcycle parts and accessories — NMAX Pipe, Yamaha and Mio brake shoe, RS8 brake pad, Samco radiator hose.

But during the operation led by the International Foreign Liaison Division with the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (IADITG), inspectors discovered what appeared to be cocaine worth P2.358 million.

According to records, the cargo’s receiver is a Hong Kong resident named Chan Yuen On,  Meanwhile, a certain Jane Castro from Las Piñas was responsible for sending it.

PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said that teams are conducting a follow-up operation to trace the people responsible for the transaction.

“This is an initial step towards digging deeper into this transport of illegal items. Follow-up operation is now being conducted to eradicate their line of business transaction,” Danao added. With reports from Xander Dave Ceballos, INQUIRER.net trainee
