Maharashtra: 10 dead, several injured in Ahmednagar civil hospital fire | Pune News


AHMEDNAGAR: At least 10 patients admitted to the civil hospital in Maharashtra‘s Ahmednagar died after a major fire broke out on Saturday.
According to officials, several patients were also injured in the blaze.
“A total of 10 people died in a fire incident at Ahmednagar District hospital,” said district collector Rajendra Bhosale.
The fire broke out in the ICU ward and was reportedly spreading to other wards too.
Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the flames. Senior police officials are also at the spot.
Some patients were also being shifted from the affected wards.
According to eyewitnesses, there were at least 20 patients undergoing treatment in the ICU.
The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.
