karnataka: Karnataka: Doorstep delivery of govt services launched in Bengaluru, to be launched across state from Jan 26 | Bengaluru News

BENGALURU: Commemorating the 66th Kannada Rajyotsava, the Karnataka government on Monday launched the doorstep delivery of 56 government services in Bengaluru under the Janasevaka programme.
Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai inaugurated the Janasevaka programme in Malleswaram constituency and said the government will be expanding the same across Karnataka from January 26, 2022.
Launched on a pilot basis in 2019, the programme was expanded to four constituencies in the City — Dasarahalli, Bommanahalli, Rajajinagar and Mahadevpura and then in Yeshwanthpura in January 2021.
The pilot project had alone seen 93,000 applications raised till date.
It was put on hold during the Covid-19 pandemic and was resumed from earlier this year with Covid-10 safety protocols being managed.
On Monday, it was effectively launched across all the 27 segments in Bengaluru city (excluding Anekal) with as many as 58 services across six major departments which involve government to citizens services.
These departments include Revenue, BBMP, Karnataka building and other construction workers welfare board, police verification by Karnataka police, UIDAI (Aadhar card), Karnataka Arogya health card, senior citizens card and APL cards.
The services are being provided by the government at an additional delivery cost of Rs 115 (excluding the departmental service charges).
The services will be available on all days between 8am and 8pm.
People can now call the Janasevaka call centre with the number 080-44554455 or use the mobile app Mobile One. People can also log on to www.janasevaka.karnataka.gov.in to book their services for doorstep delivery.
Launching the programme, CM Bommai said the Janasevaka concept has also been initiated towards delivering ration to the BPL families at their doorsteps to ensure citizen friendly governance.
“The Janasevaka programme is the beginning of the Karnataka government’s efforts to minimize the Bureaucracy driven services delivery system, wherein the common man had to pay more than the actual service cost to get his or her work done. We expanded it to even delivery of ration under the public distribution system in the state,” he said.
CM Bommai walked to certain homes in the Rajmahal Guttahalli ward of Malleswaram constituency to deliver the documents sought by people under the Janasevak scheme as a symbolic gesture of inaugurating the programme.
This apart, the government also launched online delivery of 30 transport department services including a tie-up with 10 major four wheeler and two wheeler dealerships for vehicle registration.
“As per one estimate there are 60 lakh people who visit the RTOs in the state every day to get their work done. We intend to reduce these numbers by getting people the services directly in their homes,” said the CM.
CM Bommai also launched a renewed Janaspandana call centre under 1902 to provide the details of government services and benefits available.
