3rd Int’l PACES Competition commences

LAHORE – The 3rd International PACES (Physical Agility and Combat Efficiency System) Competition commenced with an impressive and colorful opening ceremony held here at the Fortress Stadium. 

Lieutenant General Syed Muhammad Adnan, Inspector General Training and Evaluation, was the chief guest on the occasion. The ceremony was attended by a large number of spectators from all walks of life. Organizing a mega event like PACES competition with a large number of international players participating, signifies/reinforces Pakistan’s stance of being a sports friendly, peace loving and hospitable nation. Pakistan enjoys a respectable and trustworthy relationship with her friends and partners. 

The PACES is a real test of physical strength and endurance of the participants. Being one of the toughest competitions for international and national army teams, the event is regarded as a true reflection of the physical standards and endurance of the soldiers. In all, 101 international players from Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Sri Lanka, UAE and Uzbekistan are participating in the competition, whereas, observers from Egypt, Indonesia, Japan and Myanmar are also part of the event. 

It is worth mentioning here that the First International PACES Competition was held between October 18 to 24, 2016 in Lahore in which teams of 17 countries and 9 squads of Pakistan Army participated. Overshadowing its opponents, the team of Pakistan Army Services Corps Center secured first position whereas Chinese and Sri Lankan squads managed to occupy second and third positions respectively. 

The Second International PACES competition was organized between October 8 to 14, 2018, which was graced by 23 international teams and 16 domestic squads. Among the international squads, the teams of Peoples Republic of China and Sri Lanka remained on top positions and Pak Army’s Engineering Centre, Army Supply Corps Centre and Artillery Centre teams remained on top among the domestic teams.
