Two people were killed after a Chinese electric car fell from the third floor of an office in Shanghai. The people who died were inside the vehicle as it fell from the building.
One member of staff and a person from a partner company died in the crash at its headquarters on Wednesday at around 5:20 pm local time, the electric carmaker Nio said.
After the incident took place, the company immediately started an investigation in cooperation with government officials.
A video showed the vehicle lying on its side with its roof caved in, surrounded by broken glass and emergency workers.

The company further said in a statement on Weibo, China’s Twitter-like service, “Our company has collaborated with the public security department to launch the investigation and analysis of the cause of the accident.
“Based on the analysis of the situation at the scene, we can initially confirm that this was an accident (not caused by the vehicle),” it added.
